Ask Juan - Question and Answer
Clear Toolbar Search History
YAHOO TOOLBARS:
QUESTION:
Juan-I have windows 98, I use internet explorer, my search engine is Yahoo. On the search bar there is a drop down box which has my past search history for the last few times I went on a search, How can I get rid of this history so not anyone who looked would know what I was interested in? Getting rid of Internet Explorer's history does not do it as neither does removing the cookies. Thanking you in advance, Richard
ANSWER:
The Yahoo tool bar that is attached to my Internet Explorer tends to keep the latest searches to help you search faster if you are constantly searching for the same thing. But, it is kind of unnerving to know others can look at your past searches. The way you can clear them is by clicking on the pencil to the left of the search box and a drop menu will appear. On this menu you will find an option that says, "Clear Recent Searches."
GOOGLE TOOLBARS:QUESTION:
How can you clear Google search history? I read your answer on how to clear Yahoo search history, but I didn't find the pencil with the drop menu to the left of the search box. Do you have to be a Yahoo member? I have Windows XP Pro, and I use Internet Explorer. Thank you for your help.
ANSWER:
The kind of search history I am referring to is the search history that is found in the toolbars of each respective search engine. For Google, the method is very similar to that of Yahoo's tool bar.
Click on the Google drop menu to the left of the search box, and then click on "Clear Search History."
