Ask Juan - Question and Answer

Default Window Sizes

Question:
When I open an email in Outlook Express, it opens in a small window, which I usually have to maximize in order to read. I would prefer to have each email open in a full screen. Is there any way I can have this option?

Answer:
Carolynn, window sizes are somewhat of a mystery sometimes. But there is a good answer to this one.

Some windows remember their last state, some don't. Outlook Express email windows don't remember the maximized state when you close them. But, they do remember the size they were prior to being maximized. The trick is to open the window as big as you want by stretching it from the sides or corners.

Put your cursor on an edge of the window until you see a double arrow. The direction in which you will be able to stretch will be apparent by the direction the double arrows are pointing. Click and drag those arrows and the windowpane will follow. Once you are satisfied with the size of your window, close it. The next time you open it again, you will see it remembered its new size.

By the way, this technique works with other windows too, not just Outlook Express.
