Ask Juan - Question and Answer

HTML Equals Live Links

Question:
Question: A friend on my e-mail, who has to use a satellite Internet system, (he lives in Utah) has problems getting pictures I've sent and also clicking-on links I've sent. He's pretty knowledgeable with computers, but this is really throwing him off. I use Yahoo mail. Any suggestions? Thanks - and keep up the good work!

Answer:
The issue with dead links is almost never with the fault of the Internet Service Providers (ISPs). That fact that he uses a satellite system does not make any difference to that of a wired DSL or cable connection. The only thing I have noticed that might make a difference is the example of a few select ISPs. Specifically AOL. AOL’s email system does not translate the links that are sent in plain text.

What your friend might want to look at is a setting that allows him to see HTML messages on his email system. Also, the fact that you use Yahoo should have no effect on how he sees the end result of your message. Have him get a Yahoo mail account and test this theory. To change the settings on his current email system have him read previous answers to similar questions. Here’s one:
