Ask Juan - Question and Answer
Excel Paste Special
Question:
I have just started using Ask Juan, and the first of your replies was useful. I would like to ask about Paste Special in Excel (2003?). I have a series of sums calculated by formulae; I Paste Special the values, then the formats, then in another step, a regular paste. This works, but I haven't found a way to Paste Special the numbers and formats in one step. Is this possible?
Answer:
Your question alludes to a three-step process. I believe that the solution for this is a simple one. A regular paste should be enough to take care of all of the steps that you take.
Unfortunately, I have not seen Excel's Paste Special All feature work with column widths. It actually pastes all other stuff, including formulas and formats but NOT column widths. For this operation you DO need to paste special repeatedly until you get the correct results.
